The Advantages of Invisalign

Does Invisalign Fit Your Needs?

Invisalign is becoming a popular alternative to traditional braces because it offers many benefits that most patients find to be perfect for their everyday lives. For those of you who are considering “invisible” braces rather than metal brackets, here are some of the advantages of Invisalign as a beneficial choice for teeth correction.

Fewer orthodontic visits . Traditional braces require users to stop in for wire tightening every six weeks or so depending on the severity of one’s condition, which can get expensive quickly. With Invisalign, users can receive a few months’ worth of new aligners that they replace themselves every two weeks.

No repairs required . With regular braces, brackets, wires, or both may loosen and need to be fixed, which can be stressful for different individuals. Repairs should not be necessary with Invisalign---if your appliance is broken or damaged, it can be easily replaced with an extra appointment.

Easier teeth cleaning . Wearing metal braces can make oral hygiene difficult, and orthodontists often have to show their patients a detailed method for brushing teeth with metal braces to remove lodged food. This also includes plaque from the brackets and the gum line. This prevents gum disease and tooth decay. Flossing around the wiring also requires a special technique due to having to floss around the wiring. This requires a lot of patience and may take a while to complete, but it is necessary to maintain oral health.

Less likely to need teeth whitening . Metal braces wearers may need a professional cleaning to restore teeth to their former whiteness. Oral hygiene is harder to practice with traditional braces and brackets tend to leave stains on teeth. Teeth yellowing is more likely to occur as a result of traditional braces than with Invisalign, which only requires removal of the appliance to brush your teeth.

Other miscellaneous benefits . Invisalign allows users to remove the aligner at any time, therefore making easier to enjoy the foods you love, such as popcorn or chewing gum, that you couldn’t enjoy with traditional braces. Invisalign can also make wearers feel more confident, offer a more comfortable experience without any painful tightening of wires, and does not affect teeth or cheeks as regular braces do.

With these advantages, Invisalign has much to offer for those who are considering it. Check with your orthodontist to see if your needs are a perfect match for this popular, simpler option.
