Dental Stocking Stuffers for Christmas in July
For those of you who celebrate Christmas in July, getting gifts that
won’t hit the budget too hard after you have finally paid off your tab from
Christmas last year can be a challenge. However, with BBQ season in full swing,
trips to the ice cream parlor, and a steady dose of sweet, frozen drinks to
cool you off, dental stocking stuffers are a very good idea come this
mid-summer celebration of Christmas.
Travel
Oral Care
While traveling, it’s not that hard to get thrown off an oral health
regime, but travel sized products can make this easier to maintain by the
simple fact that they are portable and disposable, making an “on the go” regime
far less of a chore. These items are great to have on hand and easily fit into a
backpack or a suitcase—making any excuses about oral health on the road nil.
New
Brushes
The American Dental Association (ADA) suggests individuals get a new
toothbrush about every three to four months. To make sure your family doesn’t
go over the limit, stock up on new toothbrushes to make them easier to replace
when an old one reaches its “expiration” date. The new spare brushes should
ideally by a little flexible and have soft bristles as they are perfect for
maneuvering around teeth and gums. Soft bristle brushes are also great for all
ages and provide the best results.
Small
Items
To encourage a cleaner and more efficient routine, consider buying new
brush holders. These are perfect for traveling since they tend to keep things
neater and more organized. Loading up on new accessories like these can make a
simple task like brushing a load of fun for kids. Accessorizing with themed
waterspouts and other brushing tools can make the morning routine more exciting
for kids and easier for parents.
Sugar
Free Gum
If you or someone in your family has a habit of chewing gum, replace
it with sugar free gum. The ADA stated that chewing sugar gum for 20 minutes
after eating can increase the amount of saliva and wash away more debris. This
also reduces the plaque, leading to a healthier smile. If you have a child with
a major sweet tooth (or if it’s you), sugar free gum after a snack or a meal can
ensure cleaner teeth and gums.
Floss
and Mouthwash
As always, floss and mouthwash are perfect stocking stuffers or small gifts
since following up brushing with flossing and mouthwash is recommended by
dental professionals for improving oral health. There’s only so much a
toothbrush can get, so rinsing with an antiseptic mouthwash ensures nothing is
left behind. There’s also flavored mouthwash for kids though parents should
monitor their use to make sure the kids don’t swallow it. Getting kids into
these habits sooner pays off fast.
